Do you love hoodies? Are you one of those people who just can’t imagine their lives without this practical and comfortable piece of clothes? But that’s not all that hoodies have because they can add a really nice touch to your whole outfit. So, it isn’t surprising that hoodies have earned their place in the world of fashion. That being said, have you ever thought about what is so special about them, and what actually makes a good hoodie? After doing some research I was able to come up with answers that will shed some light on why hoodies have become so important part of our clothes.

Do you want to buy a really good hoodie?

I’m not a genius but I can assume that the last thing that you want is to spend much money on a horrible hoodie only to throw it away after 2 weeks. So, to avoid that, you have to learn a thing or two about what makes a good hoodie. In this article, you’ll learn what you should pay attention to before buying a hoodie for yourself or someone else. Your perfect hoodie is out there and you’re gonna find it, so don’t worry!

What do you want out of your hoodie?

Obviously, you can’t buy your perfect hoodie, if you actually don’t know when you’ll wear it. Do you need a comfortable and breathable hoodie for jogging or working out? Or do you want the one that you can wear every day? Or maybe you want a stylish hoodie that will spice up your outfit? Once you decide that, buying the best hoodie will be a piece of cake.

Material:

Hoodies that are made from a high-quality material (whether it’s wool, cotton, or polyester) are good hoodies for you. More often than not, hoodies are made from a combination of materials in order to give you everything you need.  So, make sure that you pick the best combination for your skin. Below you’ll read about advantages and disadvantages of the most common material used for making hoodies. Polyester – Although this material isn’t so great when comes to the absorption of water, it’s resistant to stains. Moreover, it helps hoodies to resist deformation. Cotton - For those of you who’re looking for a good hoodie that you’ll wear in the gym or while jogging, you should definitely choose those hoodies that are made from cotton because they’re breathable and comfortable. Wool – hoodies made from wool are a great choice for those of you who are engaged in winter sports because wool has better insulating properties than cotton fibers. However, wool is pretty uncomfortable so you have to wear an inner layer of clothing. Elastane (also called lycra or spandex) - is well-known for its elasticity and strength. Elastane makes hoodies resistant to moisture thus it’s great if you wear it in the rain. It’s often combined with other fabrics because it’s so fragile fiber.

Comfort:

If you want to look great, you have to feel great. And the best way to feel great is to wear the clothes that you love and that are comfortable enough so you can wear it all day. Whichever type of hoodies you want to buy, make sure that you choose the model that is lightweight, that will fit you perfectly (the size is neither too big not too small), and that will feel good in a touch with your skin.

Durability:

What also makes a good hoodie is its durability. Of course, you want to buy the hoodie that you’ll wear for more than one season. Having a long-lasting piece of clothes is always a good investment. So, I would say that it’s better to buy high-quality, pricey hoodies that you’ll wear for years than to buy cheaper models that will only last for few months.

Maintenance:

If you want to have good hoodies, you should definitely choose the ones that are easy to maintain. That means to buy those models that you can wash in the machine without worrying if they will shrink or stretch. Moreover, buy those models that you don’t have to iron every time otherwise they’ll have wrinkles and you (logically) won’t look very tidy wearing wrinkled clothes. The last thing you should keep in mind is whether your hoodies have the print. If they do, you really have to be careful when you wash them in the machine, because the print can be ruined. Sometimes is better to hand wash these models so the print will last. If you don’t care about the print and you’re not in the mood for hand washing, then you can opt for washing in the machine, but make sure that you wash your hoodie inside out.

Practicality:

If you want to wear your hoodie often, then it has to be practical right? You probably don’t want the hoodie that you can only match with particular items. If you want a good hoodie that you’ll wear as much as possible, choose the classic colors such as black, gray, beige, navy, so that you can easily combine it with various outfits. Moreover, you can choose between zip up and pullover hoodies. Whereas zip up hoodies are great if you want to look stylish and fancy (because you can wear them half-zipped and combine with a great T-shirt) pullover hoodies are great if you love clothes that fit snugly. So, there you have it. Now that you know what makes a good hoodie, you can actually buy one for yourself or your special one. You can finally have the hoodie that looks great, feels great and fits great. And you thought that is impossible, huh?
